Unravelling Saharan DUST Outflow: Insights into Mineralogy, Size, Shape, Optical Properties And Regional ClimaTe Impact through Novel Observations and Modeling (DUSTIMPACT)
DUSTIMPACT is a Knowledge Generation Project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The overarching aim of the project is to substantially improve the understanding of Saharan dust properties and their influence on the Earth’s climate system through the acquisition and integration of new observational datasets combined with state-of-the-art modelling approaches. The work will focus on key Saharan dust outflow regions, including the Subtropical Atlantic, the Western Mediterranean, and Central Europe, where dust emitted from different Saharan sources is transported and may interact and mix with other aerosol species. Izaña is one of the four stations involved in this project.
